Plan to boost homes in villages announced

News at Howes Estates | 25/08/2015

As an addition to the £26 million housing plan released earlier this month, the government has also set a rural productivity plan to increase the amount of starter homes available, particularly focusing on people that already live, work or have existing family in these rural areas.

This will increase rural housing availability, as well as making the countryside an increasingly attractive place to live. The plan hopes to increase opportunities within these rural communities such as setting up a thriving business. Ensuring that every village has the opportunity to expand, it will provide a 20% discount on properties up to £250,000 to younger buyers as an incentive.

Measures set within the plans include increases in wages, improved connectivity, transport links and investment in education and skills. This aims to level the gap between businesses in the city and in the rural areas by making things more accessible, convenient and attractive.

Other factors considered within the plan are to increase mobile network coverage, broadband speeds and most importantly, opportunities for the rural residents, such as apprenticeships.

The countryside has been an attractive place to live for a long time now, however these new developments will substantially improve the economy within these areas.
